MY STORY

Developing A Passion For Cattle:

I grew up in Americus, KS and make up the fourth generation of Leffler Farms Inc. There are currently three generations working on our farming operation (picture to the left). Our family farm and ranch operation was established in 1941. While working on the farm I developed a passion for the outdoors and learned the true definition of hard work and responsibility. Ever since I can remember I had my own “bucket-calf” to take care of and this is why I believe I am passionate about the cattle industry. Now that I am back home working on the farm it brings me great joy every time I get the opportunity to feed, tend and care for our cattle. The health benefits from beef are endless and can be an excellent source of protein for your family’s wellness. It is my goal to make sure that people have access to quality home raised beef on their dinner table.

Developing A Passion For Training:

I attended Unified School District 251 while growing up. I found an interest in sports at a young age, specifically basketball, volleyball, softball and track & field. As time went on I found myself excelling in track and later specializing in the throwing events. I was a four time 3A state champion in the discus, four time 3A state champion in the shot put, four time 3A state qualifier in the javelin and Adidas Golden West shot put champion. I also held the shot put and discus 3A state records. I received a full ride scholarship to Kansas State University where I competed and became All Big XII in the shot put and hammer. I also was a NCAA National qualifier in the discus. While at Kansas State University I obtained two degrees: Kinesiology (emphasis in sports performance) and Family Studies and Human Studies (emphasis in counseling and psychology).  During the time I was in Manhattan I developed a passion for coaching young student-athletes and coached for the Manhattan Track and Field Club. I not only trained the throwers but I also worked extensively with strength and conditioning with the entire group.  I moved back home two years ago when my eligibility expired and took on the throws coach position at Emporia State University. There I coached numerous male and female MIAA Conference scorers in the shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. It is now that I want to take my knowledge and experience and help athletes and those just wanting to stay fit obtain their maximal potential like my past coaches did for me.
